Now on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Starting in a week on May 14th, Canada’s largest national lottery game will draw twice a week, adding a Tuesday night draw in addition to Friday. Lotto Max joins Lotto 649 and Daily Grand for twice weekly games.
Lotto Max and its’ predecessor game Super 7 are known for drawing a handful of the largest pools to be handed out in the country. The Interprovincial Lottery Corporation in conjunction with all the reporting lottery boards are responding to consumers seeking the high jackpot prizes drawn in the American Lottery game Powerball. Many Powerball winning stories are shown through American news outlets broadcast in Canada. Ticket purchasers in turn are seeking those higher jackpot numbers. Lotto Max, which celebrates ten years this coming fall, will see an increase in the capped prize amount reach 70 million dollars.
An additional national draw per week means an additional chance for conspiracy theorists to complain when a jackpot draw goes to Ontario and Quebec. The provinces and their respective lottery corporations still have the highest percentage of lottery players because of their populations. Even the increased number of winners from the Western Canadian, British Columbia and Atlantic Canadian lottery corporations have not stopped the critics who believe the system to somehow be “rigged” in Ontario or Quebec’s favour.
Let the games/complaining begin….
